First Visit

What to Expect at Your First Visit

When you arrive at Ossa Orthodontics for the first time, you will be warmly welcomed by our amazing team. The initial visit is free, typically lasts about an hour, and includes several key steps:

  • Photographs: We will capture detailed images to assess your facial structure and dental health.
  • 3D X-ray: A state-of-the-art 3D X-ray will provide a comprehensive view of your dental and cranial structure.
  • 3D Intra-oral Scan: A detailed set of 3-D images that show the entire dentition virtually and can be used to 3D print a physical model. This takes the place of the old-school alginate impressions.
  • Orthodontic Examination: Dr. Maria Ossa will perform a thorough examination and discuss the best treatment options for your needs.

The purpose of this initial appointment is to address several important questions:

  • What are your concerns and those of your dentist?
  • When is the ideal time to start treatment for you or your child?
  • What type of treatment is most suitable?
  • How long will the treatment take?
  • What will be the total cost of the treatment?

Insurance Benefits

At Ossa Orthodontics, we accept the assignment of benefits from a wide range of insurance plans, significantly reducing your family’s out-of-pocket expenses. If we do not directly accept your insurance, we will file claims on your behalf to ensure you receive the reimbursement. Should there be any changes in your insurance policy before full payment, please notify our office immediately so we can adjust your contract accordingly.

Questions?

  1. What is the Cost of Treatment?

The cost varies depending on the complexity of your orthodontic needs. During your initial exam, our treatment coordinator will review fees and payment options. We offer flexible payment plans and accept direct assignments from most insurance plans to make orthodontics accessible for everyone.

  2. What Does My Investment Include?

    Your investment covers:

    • Orthodontic Records: Includes x-rays, study models, and a personalized growth study.
    • Active Treatment: This encompasses early treatment options or complete comprehensive treatment with braces or clear aligners. It covers all necessary appliances, office visits, and procedures. Appliances are durable, but if replacement is needed due to loss, misuse, or damage from inappropriate foods, an additional fee may apply.
    • Final Retainers: One set of retainers is provided to all patients upon completion of treatment. Replacement retainers are available for an additional fee if lost or broken.
  3. What Doesn’t My Investment Include?

    Your investment does not cover:

    • Work Done Elsewhere: Any procedures performed at other dental offices.
    • Missed Appointments: Additional fees may be incurred for numerous missed appointments.
    • Broken Appliances/Non-Compliance: In order to keep treatment moving along as originally prescribed, it is important to avoid multiple appliance breakages and comply with all instructions for care that were given. If there are repeated issues with breakages or non-compliance, additional fees will be added to treatment.
